Microsoft released the KB5004760 update for PCs running Windows 10 versions 21H1, 20H2, or 2004 outside of their regular schedule. The minor update is intended to address a particular issue with PDF documents.
According to the statement, the update KB5004760 resolves a problem that could make it impossible for users to open PDFs using the 64-bit version of the WebBrowser control or the outdated Internet Explorer 11 browser. Additionally, when utilizing the Adobe Acrobat plug-in, a PDF may appear as only a gray background.
You may get this out-of-band patch from Settings>Update & Security>Windows Update by selecting the Check for updates button and then selecting the Download and Install option under the part that says “Optional quality update available.”
The standalone version of the update is also available on the Microsoft Update Catalog website.
The Windows 10 version number will increase to build 19041.1082, 19042.1082, and 19043.1082 for versions 2004, 20H2, and 21H1 following the installation of the upgrade.
